Teresa Jiménez, Twos/Threes Teacher

Teresa Jiménez (pronouns: she/her) is the teacher for the twos/threes (Seeds class). Teresa teaches music and has over 17 years experience in early childhood education and caregiving. Her own children attended the Leaves and Tracks years. During that time, she served on the Admissions committee and continues as Director of Admissions through enrollment for Fall 2023. All of this has given her a unique and grounded perspective the School’s intentional teaching and parent involvement.

From Teresa;

I cherish the time I was able to spend co-oping in the classroom and on Forest Days alongside Lesley, Ada, and other co-opers and I am eager for the chance to deepen my understanding of the cooperative school way. Whether or not my teaching path leads to TPCNS, I look forward in the coming school year to furthering my own education, particularly in the areas of anti-bias and antiracism.

Working in play-based and nature-based classrooms, I’ve seen first hand how play and time spent in nature support children’s growth and learning. These are indeed my favorite ways to approach teaching. Some of my greatest strengths as a teacher are my ability to form relationships with children and families, and to be present with my students and responsive to each one’s needs. If offered the position, I will rely on those abilities to welcome new families into what may be their first school experience and hold steady space for their transitions. I’ll work within the rich and well established environment we already have at TPCNS to create a classroom experience wherein students can explore confidently and grow at their own pace. Outside Seeds’ class hours, I’ll work to contribute to their connections as a class and community with weekly newsletters, conferences, and availability for conversation.
